Kevy G - CEO / Keys / BV’s / Musical Director
Kevin Greenberg is a young, talented and accomplished musician excelling as a pianist and keyboard player, arranger and music producer, session musician, musical director and tutor. He has a distinctive sound and is a musical performer whose artistic touch is always in the service of the music.
Kevin has been performing in front of audiences for 12 years. He went on to obtain his pianoforte and theory diplomas in classical music through UNISA and completed his Bachelor of Technikon in Music from Tshwane University of Technology in 2009. Despite Kevin’s training in classical music his preference leans towards light, contemporary and jazz music. He can easily straddle the different genres of music. This is evident in his compact discs namely INSPIRING INSTRUMENTALS and ROLLING ON INSTRUMENTALS which Kevin has arranged, performed, sequenced and produced the entire selection.
Kevin’s stage name is Kevy G since a teenager - and he owns High Definition - incorporating the Entertainment, Music Production and Artiste Management divisions. Kevy G is the innovator of the High Definition Show Band’s distinctive sound.
Kevin has made many debuts such as performing in an ensemble for an American renowned guitarist, Gary Wittner, and was the rehearsal pianist for the Broadway show “Ragtime” in 2007 whilst studying at TUT. He has entertained at Quails Cuisine, University of Pretoria, Wits University, the American Embassy and countless events for PERONI. He has performed as the accompanying keyboard artist for the VIVACIOUS VOICE workshops. Kevin has the penchant for the elderly and has entertained on piano at various retirement villages and old aged homes bringing much joy to so many. He has participated and performed in most of the high school musicals back in his youth. Wherever Kevin goes he has garnered praise from musicians and critics alike.
Kevy G was also 2nd keyboardist in RENT a Broadway musical staged by Tshwane University of Technology - hailed as an enormous success and drawing large audiences - and can be seen ‘tickling the ivories’ at Tanz Cafe as an accompanist to Xavier Saer, and pop/hip-hop sensation group KoldProduk; and has also accompanied Melanie Lowe and Edward Chambers. He was also commissioned as one of the pianists at the cutting edge Marco Polo Gaming & Entertainment Venue at the Nelson Mandela Square (Sandton City) as well for the movie WINNIE soon to be released at cinema staring Jennifer Hudson.
Recently, Kevin played 2nd keyboards at the Joburg Theatre as part of Janice Honeyman's pantomime ROBINSON CRUSOE AND THE CARIBBEAN PIRATES in December 2010. He is the keyboardist for the sensational pop/hip hop act Koldproduk as well as Africa's most respected SAMA nominated lyricists/rappers namely Zubz. He is the choir director for King Edward VII School and a part-time accompanist for the musical theatre department at Wits University. This year Kevy G has written the musical arrangements for 2 new shows to be shown at the Barnyard Theatre's namely, ROUGH DIAMONDS & DIVAS and FINAL COUNTDOWN. He currently is the musical director for critically acclaimed performer and Neladi Theatre and Fleur du Cap awards winner André Schwartz and touring South Africa showcasing André's new album Big Band Classics 12 Plus 1.
